Disappearance Tuesday morning of Mathias Mueller, 79 years old, was solved late Friday afternoon when fisherman found the body of the aged man caught in shrubs on a sand shoal in Grand river near Fourth-st.

Mueller left the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maas, 310 Gold-av., N.W., between 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning after he had been induced to return to bed by Mr. Maas upon making the declaration that he planned drowning himself in the west side canal. When members of the family, distant relatives of Mueller, arose they found he had gone.

The body was seen first by Henry Grooters of 64 Diamond-av., N.E., who with Clarence Silasky and Vincent Romanski, went in search of firewood. Grooters, who has been fishing in the river every spring for years, had given up the work for the day. The body was the second Grooters has reclaimed from the river in the past few years. He was paid the reward of $50 offered by Albert J. Alt, undertaker at 337 Bridge-st., a relative of Mueller. Coroner Simeon LeRoy decided an inquest unnecessary.
