Jean A. Cannon (nee Murphy), 85, went to heaven on February 26, 2014. She was surrounded by her family during her final hours.

Jean was born in Newark in 1928, the daughter of William J. and Helen B. , sister of William and Nancy (deceased). She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair in 1944.

She married Herbert J. Cannon in 1954. They moved to Chatham in 1958 and raised their family. Jean was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, the Rosary Altar Society and a lifelong Yankees fan and watched every game. Jean loved being around her family and listening to her son and daughter sing and play the guitar. She and Herb loved to travel and talk about their many adventures together. They also enjoyed walking on the boardwalk in Spring Lake and eating dinner out. Jean was an avid gardener and loved to grow Dahlia's. She loved Herb so much and their life they had together. She always told us she wouldn't change a thing if she had it to do over again. She loved every minute of it and taking care of all of us.

She leaves behind a very thankful and grateful family, her loving husband Herb, her children, David Cannon, Nancy & Steve Wyatt, Jim & Kathy Cannon, Cathy Hartjen and Beth & John Tunny. She had nine grandchildren, Dan Cannon, Jacqueline Taylor, Kate Cannon, Maegan Wyatt, James Wyatt, Andrew Hartjen, Claire Tunny and Jack Tunny, one great-grandchild, Colton Taylor and another on the way.
