RESCUE - Jane Murphy Brown, 71, passed away Sept. 21, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jane was a native of Isle of Wight Co. and spent most of her life here. She was owner/operator, along with her late husband, Robert Lee Brown, of Rescue Seafood and Brown's Marina. Jane was an impeccable business lady and was an avid collector of Beanie Babies. She was of the Baptist faith. The youngest of eleven children, Jane was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Ocie Hendricks and Reaves Brumbeloe Murphy, and her husband. Jane leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Gregory Alan Brown, of Prince Frederick, Md., Marc E. Brown, and his wife, Joyce, and Myron J. Brown, all of Rescue; six grandchildren, Miranda, Ashley, Taylor, Rebecca, Nathan, and Leah; two great-grandchildren, Lydia and Drew; two sisters Sadie Boyette of Indiana and Sara Danaceau of Newport News, Va.; two brothers, Melvin Murphy of Gretna, Va. and Pyton Murphy of Driver, Va. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield The family suggests memorials to Breast Cancer Research, 854 Middleground Blvd., Suite 154, Newport News, VA 23606 Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
