Anna Murphy Blanks, 80, of 11149 Philpott Road, Alton died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at her home.

She was born Nov. 10, 1931, a daughter of the Ernest Clayton Murphy and Eva Wilbourne Murphy.

She was married to Marshall L. Blanks and was a member of Second Baptist Church, South Boston.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Wayne C. Blanks and wife Kaye of Hampton, Brenda Church and husband Jim and Michael A. Blanks and wife Melissa, all of Huddleston, Sherri B. Hodnett and husband Linwood of Bedford; two sisters, Marie M. Garrett and husband James of Mechanicsville and Margaret M. Edwards and husband, Rev. William of Asheville, N.C., six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Berta M. Farmer and one brother, Watson Murphy.

A funeral will be held Friday, March 9, 2 p.m. at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Ward and Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at 11149 Philpott Road, Alton.
