Ruth L. Austin, 89, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: 12:45 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Ruth was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Fort Worth to James A. and Myrtle Needham. She was raised there with two older brothers and enjoyed her childhood summers at her grandparents' farm in Joshua. Ruth was blessed with 65 years of marriage to the love of her life whom she met as a young girl while working at the S.H. Kress department store in Fort Worth. She was a warm, loving wife and devoted mother with many talents such as ceramics, painting and crocheting. Ruth's love of life, bright smile and always sunny disposition will be greatly missed by all who loved her and those who were lucky enough to know her. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, William "Buck" Austin.

Survivors: Children, retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Michael Brown, Nelsie Mullins and Susie Diano; grandchildren, Jeff Gallaway, Lori Lisi, Jennifer Wood, Brandon Diano, Molly Brown and Julie Brown; great-grandchildren, Preslee Gallaway, Colt Gallaway, Bradi Gallaway, Zachery Staton and Rachel Lisi.
