"Mrs. Florence C. Elliott died at St. John's Hospital in St. Paul on Monday morning, Aug 15 following an illness of several months due to a heart ailment. She was born in Plainview, June 26, 1897, the daughter of John and Hannah (Jacoby) Nelson. She grew to womanhood in Plainview and her marriage to William Elliott of Plainview took place in 1919. They lived in Plainview until the fall of that year moving then to St. Paul. Mr Elliott died in 1954 and since then she has lived at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Marian) Picht of St. Paul. Survivors with Mrs. Picht are two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Osborn of Plainview; Mrs. Oliver (Dorothy) Anderson of Minneapolis; Mrs. Irene Growl of Lake City; one brother, Wm. Nelson of Plainview. Funeral services were conducted at the Kessier and McGuire funeral chapel in St. Paul on Thursday, Aug. 18 with burial in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery beside the grave of her husband. Memorial services were conducted Wednesday evening, Aug. 17 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of which she was a member. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nelson, Mrs. Maggie Osborn and son Charles all of Plainview, Robert and Bert Olson of Millville attended the services." ("Plainview News, Thursday, Aug. 25, 1960)
