A lifelong resident of Maringouin, she died on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at her home at age 89. Visiting at Mount Gideon Baptist Church, 77700 W. Oak Lane, Maringouin, on Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Reginald Pitcher. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by her four daughters and two sons-in-law, Florence Bessix, Gloria Bessix, Joyce and Leon Wesley, and Polly and Russell Smith; six sons, Phillip and wife Julia Bessix, Thomas and wife Malana Bessix, Leroy Bessix, Joseph and wife Barbara Bessix, Alfred and companion Cleo Williams, and Michael and wife Beverly Bessix; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
