Mildred Celia Benson (nee Ness), wife, mother, grandma, sister & friend. Millie was born Feb. 14, 1920 in Starbuck, MN, raised in Cyrus, MN and died in Mpls, Nov. 28, 2003 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris O. Benson and brother, Abner Ness. Millie was a strong, independent woman who was happiest when she was working, and when the work was done, she looked forward to time and fun with friends. She was an accomplished seamstress and an employee of Honeywell Inc. for a remarkable 46 years, reluctantly retiring when she was 76. She was a hostess of countless card parties and backyard barbecues and in later years carried treats or snacks for the people she encountered in her day. She was a longtime bowler and member of the Minneapolis WBA and WIBC. Millie was an example of living life as it came to you and not worrying or complaining about things you could not change. She was married 20 years to Lawrence R. Emery of Montevideo, MN and for 30 years to Norris O. Benson of Morris, MN.

She is survived by daughters, Carol (Leo) Plumley and Sharon (Richard Gilyard) Emery; granddaughter, Denise Webber; sisters, Bernice (Lawrence) Alfson, and Phyllis Helgerson.
