Mrs. Elsie S. Apple, 78, a resident of Waldron, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Greensburg nursing home after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been in failing health for the past 15 months and seriously ill for the past two weeks. Formerly a resident of Rush County, near Moscow. Mrs. Apple was born in Rush County nov. 21, 1882, a daughter of John and Sarah Ficklin. On Dec. 21, 1902, she married Norman E. Apple whose death occurred July 25, 1954. Also preceding her in death was a brother. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Alice McGibbins of Waldron; one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Addie Wiley of Waldron, James Ficklin of St. Paul and Verna Ficklin of Rushville; two granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Waldron Rebekah Lodge and the Waldron Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Carmony Funeral Home in St. Paul. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Rev. Donald Lambert of the Waldron Baptist Church will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
