Samantha Caroline Newman, daughter of Orrilla and John T. Newman, was born January 14, 1841 and died July 3, 1899, aged 58 years, 5 months and 19 days. She was married to Mr. Robert Ayers November 1, 1862 while attending a female college at Salem, Illinois. They had six children, four girls and two boys. One son died in infancy.
Note: from 1880 census children were: Stella, Wilmoth, Jessie, Granville and Orilla.
