She had been ill several months. Prior to that was employed in the office of Efird's Department Store for 30 years.
Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Plaza Presbyterian Church. The Rev. David E. Wilkinson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will be taken from Hankins-Whittington Funeral Home to the church at 3 p.m.
Serving as active pallbearers will be officers of Plaza Presbyterian Church and P. H. Efird, J. R. Felts Sr., W. Ross Alexander, Joe Starnes, Dr. C. L. Clontz.
The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Alexander was born June 4, 1898, the daughter of the late T. B. and Mary J. Yandle Nesbit. She had been an active member of Plaza Presbyterian Church since childhood and participated in youth work at the church. Mrs. Alexander held many offices in the church, having served as president of the Women of the Church for two terms and superintendent of the Intermediate Department for many years. She recently was awarded a life membership in the Women of the Church.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Miss Margaret Alexander Nelson of Charlotte; a brother, Harry C. Nisbet of Charlotte; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Price and Mrs. J. E. McKnight of Charlotte and Mrs. J. P. Belk of Tabor City.
