Funeral services for Burl "Bob" Norman were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Hanson Mowry Funeral Home. The Rev. E.F. Klingensmith officiated and interment was in Chatsworth Cemetery.
Five nephews, Arthur, John, Joseph and Patrick O'Neil of Joliet, Wilbur Hallstein of Hopedale and James Mauritzen, served as casket bearers.
Remains were brought to Chatsworth Saturday evening following Mr. Norman's sudden death at Mountain Home Park, Arkansas, on Wednesday, September 24.
Mr. Norman was born at Tremont, Ill., the son of Amos and Estelle Norman. He came to Chatsworth in 1910 and operated a shoe repair shop and shoe store just north of Baldwin's Federated Store, later moving in the Grand building. He left Chatsworth in 1934 for employment in Chicago in the U.S. Post Office.
While residing here Bob was a member of the volunteer fire department; played with Chatsworth's baseball team; was a charter member of Walter Clemons Legion Post and a past master of Chatsworth Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes; a son, Robert, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a brother, Clay B. of Chicago; and two grandchildren. Eleven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
