He was a strong family man, but died in 1909 leaving his pregnant wife with two children.
Shortly after his death, his wife delivered their third child and never regained her health . She died in 1914 leaving three young children.
Their children Alice Myrtle was 9 at that time and raised by her aunt Barbara Ann Braund Peckham and Kenneth Peckham.
7 yr old Lloyd and 5 year old Georgia O. were adopted by their father's cousin Mary Ann "May" Van Hoosen and her husband Louis Ristow.
