She married Charles H. Nowell, a Civil War veteran, on October 11, 1866 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Together they had seven children: Margaret Grace (Nowell) Graham, a renowned watercolor artist, George Foster Nowell, John Chase Nowell, Walter Gates Nowell, Lawrence Nowell, Ernest Prescott Nowell and Harold Titcomb Nowell.
Anna died on March 6, 1917 in San Mateo, California. This was the same location that her son, John Chase Nowell and his wife were living at that time. She was survived by her husband, Charles, who died in 1920. Charles was buried in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Reading, Massachusetts.
