C, 166th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"). Captured at Suffolk, Virginia, April 24, 1863, he was incarcerated in Richmond, Virginia, paroled at City Point, Virginia, May 5, and reported to Camp Parole, Annapolis, Maryland, on May 9. He returned to the regiment May 27, 1863, and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, in York.
He married Mary Ann Weaver October 17, 1865, in Oxford Township, Adams County, and fathered Cornelia J. (b. 08/23/66 - married an O'Connor) and Joseph E. (b. 03/16/68). In 1890, he lived in Oxford Township, Adams County, but died at his daughter's home in Maytown, Lancaster County, at age 80-9-24.
