The funeral for Mrs. Mary A. Cooper, 63*, of 255 TenEyck St., widow of Burdett L. Cooper, will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Benoit C.
Dostie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 today.
Mrs. Cooper died Thursday morning at the House of the Good Samaritan.
Born June 24, 1912, at Corbyville, Ont., a daughter of John and Mary F. Culkeen O'Sullivan, she was graduated from Notre Dame Convent School, Kingston, Ont. She moved
to Watertown in 1929. She was graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1932 as a registered nurse and served as head nurse in the obstetrical department at Mercy Hospital from 1934 to 1942.
She served as an American Red Cross nurse at Madison Barracks, Sackets Harbor, from 1943 to 1944 and was industrial nurse at Bagley and Sewall (Black Clawson) from 1944 to 1949.
From 1949 until her death she served as a private duty nurse, working at both Mercy Hospital and the House of the Good Samaritan.
She married Burdett L. Cooper May 13, 1944, in Holy Family Church with Rev. Bernard S. Desnoyers officiating. Mr. Cooper, a machine operator at the New York Air Brake, died
Jan. 16, 1966, at the age of 61. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the American Nurses Association, District 6, a member of the board of directors of the Watertown Nurses Registry, a past president of the Mercy Hospital Alumnae Association, having served in 1942, and was a member of the Auxiliary of the Sisters of the Precious Blood, a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
