Mary Rose Maud (O'Toole) Angel

May 3, 1925 - July 20, 2014

Mary Rose O'Toole Angel, 89, entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at her home in Metairie.

She was born (the youngest of nine children) to the late William Patrick O'Toole and Corinne Georgia Trapolin, in New Orleans on Sunday morning, May 3, 1925, while church bells were ringing.

Mary Rose attended St. Stephen's elementary school and graduated from Holy Name High School in New Orleans. She left Loyola University in her sophomore year to accept employment with Standard Oil, where she worked for over 20 years. On May 2, 1964, she married the late Edwin Benjamin Angel at St Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church. In 1968 they moved to Houston, Texas, where they resided for 13 years and raised three sons, before returning to Metairie in 1981. She later worked at Short Stop Po-Boys for 8 years.

Mary Rose was a faithful Catholic, a devoted spouse and mother who loved spending time with family and friends. She was also an avid reader, loved classic movies and traveling. Beside her immediate family, she also devoted much time and love to the care of elderly family and friends. Mary Rose had a warm, engaging personality, and a fun sense of humor that stayed with her till the very end. She was blessed with many good and loyal friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Edwin, her parents, and six sisters, Corinne Rowell, Marion O'Toole, Dolores Fordham, Mary Edna O'Toole, Helen Dearie and Madelyn Hendricks.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Glenn and Therese Angel, Wade and Tamara Angel, Kenneth and Mirla Angel; and 8 beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Linda, Christopher, Elizabeth, Bernadette, Andrew, Joseph and Caroline. She is also survived by her loving brother, William O'Toole (wife, Marcia) and sister, Joan Harvey. Mary Rose will be dearly missed by all.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the loving staff of Notre Dame Hospice, St Benilde Catholic Church and the live-in caregivers during the final months of her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Ponchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 11:00 am.
