Oscar (Karo) Anaya Ontiveros
6/09/1915 - 1/05/2013

Oscar was born on June 9, 1915 in Torreón, Coahuila, México. He was the eighth child out of nine born to José Anaya Gutierrez and Josefa Ontiveros Anaya. He attended the Amado Nervo School and graduated in 1930. At 16 he began his banking career with Banco de México, México's Federal Reserve. On February 4, 1939 he married the love of his life, Evangelina Güereca and on January 7, 1940 their only child Rosalinda was born. In 1948 the family decided to immigrate to the United States, live in Los Angeles, California, where Oscar was to pursue his Electrical Engineering Degree. In 1949 because of a difficult economy and the shortage of employment opportunities, he was forced to work at a variety of jobs. He picked lettuce, packed and delivered poultry and laid tracks for the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1951 he started his career as a sheet metal worker and retired from this employment in 1980.

Now Oscar had time to be with his beloved Eva, to travel and see family, to do gardening and share cuttings from his garden with relatives and friends, and to read the accumulated books and magazines.

In 1999 his love and companion, Eva passed away and shortly afterward Oscar moved to Fremont, California to be with his daughter Rosalinda, her husband John Sheaffer, and grandchildren. When Rosalinda and John retired in Eugene, Oregon, Oscar and his faithful cat, "Harry" joined them. He shared a home with his loving family until his death of congestive heart failure. On January 5, 2013, Oscar passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Rosalinda and her husband, John, his granddaughter Judith and husband Martin Wolf, grandson Brant and wife Sian, great-grandson William Oscar Sheaffer, sister Hermilia Anaya Benavides, cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nieces and nephews and his Beloved cat, "Harry".

Oscar and Eva's ashes will be scattered together at a later date.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4330 Willamette St., Eugene, OR 97405.
