Phyllis Sanchez, 74, of Billings, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. She was born April 27, 1938, in Billings, the daughter of Felix and Margaret (Alva) Ontiveros. She attended Garfield grade school and Lincoln Jr. High.

On Oct. 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to David R. Sanchez at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. To this union, eight children were born. She attended EMC and after her children were in school she started her teaching career. She worked for Head Start at North Park and at Daycare at First Congregational Church. Phyllis worked for Migrant Council and set up an education program for children in the 70's, located in Poly Drive School. She was also employed with Billings Deaconess Hospital for a short period of time.

Phyllis enjoyed traveling with David in the motor home every summer with the grandchildren, and visiting family in California. Favorite activities included teaching her grandchildren how to swim, lifeguarding at South Park pool and backyard barbeque's. She liked dancing and participated in the dance programs at Lincoln Center.

Phyllis is survived by her husband David; children Dennis Sanchez, Diana (Hal) Parrott, Ronald (Carrie Ann) Sanchez, Ben Sanchez, Bonnie Sanchez, Gary Sanchez, Frank (Billie) Parrott, Felicia (Rafa) Sanchez Rivera; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Paul (Rose) Ontiveros; numerous nieces, especially Lori Lopez and sisters; nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tom and Felix; sisters Marti, Dorthy, Norma and Josie; daughter Dawn; son Davey.

Phyllis's family would like to say a special thank you to her niece, Lori, for the comfort and care she gave Phyllis the last two weeks.

Vigil services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, and a Memorial Mass 11 a.m. Saturday, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Interment will be held at a later date.
