Estella O. Martinez, 85, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children and family on August 9, 2016 in Poteet, Texas. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Despite her illness, she maintained her strong will to live and firm belief and faith in God. Estella was born in Elgin, Texas on September 17, 1930 to Antonio and Nicholasa Ontiveros. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Nicholasa Ontiveros; son, Salvador O. Martinez; husband, Salvador D. Martinez; sisters, Juanita Faz, Victoria Mendez, Sophia Deleon, Refugia Rendon and Olivia Orozco; and great granddaughter, Madison Rae Martinez. She is survived by her sons, Martin O. Martinez and wife, Pauline of Poteet; Mario O. Martinez of San Antonio; daughters, Delma Gomez Sanchez and husband, Guadalupe Sanchez of Poteet; Rosa Galindo and husband, Clemente Galindo of Poteet; grandchildren, Salvador Martinez, III of Jourdanton; Rocky Castillo of San Antonio; Benjamin Gomez, II and wife, Ericka of Houston; Daniel Gomez and wife, Valerie of San Antonio; Valerie Martinez Salas and husband, Freddy of Houston; Joe Hector Hernandez of Austin, James Martinez of Poteet; Nicholas Hernandez of Poteet; Krystle Hernandez of Pleasanton; Jadrian Martinez of San Antonio; 10 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Ray, Aaron Matthew, Kaylee Reann, Elianna Rose, Elijah Daniel, Marissa Jane, Brooke Ann, Genesis, Jaianna , Aria and great great grandchild, Bentley. Estella's healing hands, contagious smile and her heart of gold made all those around her feel like family. She will be greatly missed by all, however her family finds comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing and singing with the choir of angels above. Visitation will begin on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Hosanna Baptist Church, 237 School Drive, Poteet, Texas. A Prayer Service will be held Friday Evening at 7:00 p.m. at Hosanna Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hosanna Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Wilborn Cemetery, Poteet.
