Trinidad G. Cobos, age 82 of El Centro, was taken by our Lord on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, fighting until the end of her courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Iguanas, Sinaloa, MX on August 12, 1931 to Pedro and Paz Ontiveros. She had only one sibling, Victoria Ontiveros.

She came to the United States in 1952 as a nanny to John and Bev Kearney, watching over their 4 boys. She later worked at the Owl Café under Freddy Marr, and so began her career as a waitress. In her waitressing profession, she worked at Top Notch, Chabela's, United Coffee Shop and ended her career at Thrifty's Café Shop.

She is survived by her only daughter, Martha Turner and husband Danny Turner; grandchildren, Clarissa and Jesse Laguna; her great- grandchildren, Stevie and MiaRay Trinidad Laguna Rubio; and her sister, Victoria Ontiveros. She was a loving aunt to Luis Ernesto and Ana Isabel Escobar, Lourdes and Hector Salgado, the twins Joaquin and Carlos Escobar (Vicky Escobar), Jesus Escobar and Manuel Ontiveros.

Trinidad was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe Cobos who died in 1971.

"Trini" as she was known, was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grand- mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a remarkable woman with a strong will, determination and strong work ethic. She will be greatly missed.

Viewing and rosary will be held at St. Mary's in El Centro on May 8th between 6 and 9 p.m. Burial mass will be at St. Mary's on May 9th at 10 a.m., followed by burial site mass at Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life held at 2303 S. Weakley Road, El Centro immediately after burial.

The family wanted to send a special thank you to the nurses at ECRMC, especially Amy and Marie (RN's).

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation be made to the American Cancer Society.
