Kitty passed away in Palmer, Alaska, on July 22nd. She was 88 years old.

She was born in Auburn, Washington, July 13, 1925, to Austin & Katherine (Maness) Osgood. She was raised in Portland, and graduated from Grant High School in 1943. That September 13 Kitty married Fenton Butler--a dashing Army Airs Corps lieutenant with a powder blue convertible.

Although Kitty lived in Portland most her life, she spent stints in Southern California near her husband during WWII and later when he worked for San Diego County. She also lived in Phoenix when Fenton worked for the State of Arizona. Her heart, however, longed for the Northwest, and she returned to Portland in 1971 to remain a resident until her death.

In the 50's and 60's she worked at Jantzen Knitting Mills, first in the personnel department, later in payroll and accounting. After her move to Arizona, she continued to work for Jantzen during summer visits to Oregon. In 1971 she joined her mother Kitty Geddes in conducting estate sales. For twenty years and the course of over 1, 100 weekend sales the team set the standard for Portland estate sales. A stroke to Kitty Sr ended the business, but Kitty Jr always enjoyed seeing former customers, and she kept in touch with many of them.

Her latter years were spent as the doyenne of her neighborhood, and she was an adored neighbor welcomed at many a block party, and at numerous homes. When she wasn't visiting with neighbors she could be found reading, a lifelong passion.

Kitty is survived by her daughters Ginny (Joe) Lawton of Palmer, Alaska, and Anne Butler of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Kate, George, and Giles Lawton and Amanda Butler; and nephew, David Osgood. She was pre-deceased by her husband Fenton and their daughter Katie Jeanne Butler.
