She graduated from Gardner High School in 1918, and later studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and stage dancing with Madame Richmond. She appeared in musical comedies on Broadway at the Times Square Theater and in many other cities across the country.
In 1946 she was president of the Gardner Woman's Club. She worked with the Girl Scouts as a den mother for many years. Mrs. Baumgartner also worked in the Gardner Savings Bank, taught first aid during the end of World War II, and served as a volunteer in Rutland Hospital.
