ASHBURNHAM — Frances L. (Palmer) Godfrey, 101, of Ashburnham, died peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Heywood Hospital following a brief illness.
Life:
Frances was born in Needham, Mass. on November 23, 1912 daughter of the late Walter F. and Catherine (Cordial) Palmer, and has lived in Ashburnham since she married her beloved husband William K. Godfrey, October 7, 1933. Together they shared over 52 years of marriage before William died in 1985.

She was a long time member of the People's Church of Ashburnham, where she was very active in church activities, and ladies aid society. Frances was also member of the forever young club. She was a Girl Scout leader for seven years, and she enjoyed playing, cards and games with her family and friends, especially scrabble. Frances was also a foster parent and worked the voting polls in Ashburnham. Frances was recognized as the oldest living resident of Ashburnham, and the holder of the Boston Post Cane.
