Mrs. Garcia was born in Gulfport to John H. and Mildred Yates Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Van Pierce; sisters, Jessie Moore and Gracie Gentry; and her brother, Arthur Butler.
She is survived by her children, Cristy Vogel (Alan) of Kennesaw, GA, and Kenneth Van Pierce (Genie) of Gulfport; siblings, Helen Ainsworth, Lillie Bond, both of Saucier; grandchildren, Samantha Overstreet and Jonathan Pierce; sister-in-law, Belen Butler of Pass Christian; and very dear friend, Juan Riviera.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 12 o'clock Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Saucier Cemetery.
