Alonzo James Parker, 77, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, in New Orleans.
Mr. Parker was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and served in the Army where he received numerous medals. He was a former employee of the Buena Vista Hotel and Longfellow House. He was a lifetime member of I.B.P.O.E. of W (NU)576 Vernon Gilbert Lodge where he was past grand exalted ruler, was a member of the trustee board and member of the Antler Guard. He was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Azaline Parker; his wife, Clara Parker; four brothers, Eddie Parker, Ralph Parker, Rosevelt Parker and George Parker; and a sister, Marie Parker.
Survivors include a son, Roger Smith of Biloxi; four daughters, Jocelyn Jones and Paulette Phillips, both of Biloxi, Linda Turner of Atlanta and Francesca Parker Miller of Jersey City, N.J.; two brothers, Edward Parker of Biloxi and George Parker of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Irene Parker and Jean Graves, both of Biloxi and Katherine Kaves of Port Chester, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church with burial in Biloxi National Cemetery. Dickey Bros.-Chambers Bros. Funeral Services in Biloxi was in charge of arrangements.
