Mrs. Alberta Alexander -- was born to the late Mary and Soloman Payne on April 23, 1924 in Marango County, AL. She was a resident of Mobile for 60 years. She departed this life on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at her home. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Dortch. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alexander, Jr., son, Leroy Alexander, one brother and six sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Retha (Willie) Sellers, Willie Lee (Robert) Curtis, Henrietta (Vaughn) Winbush, Annette Alexander, all of Mobile, and Donna (Michael) Caldwell of Decatur, GA; seven sons, Rev. James (Jessica) Alexander, Larry (Bessie) Alexander and Richard Alexander, all of Detroit, MI, Eugene Alexander, Robert Alexander and Carl (Dorothy) Alexander, all of Mobile and John (Renea) Alexander of Florence, SC; forty-seven grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; two devoted brothers, Willie (Brenda) Payne of Birmingham, AL and Johnnie (Claretha) Payne of Mobile; one aunt, Bertha Alexander of Mobile; two sisters-in-law, Marie Nelson and Mary Alexander of Theodore, AL; god sister, Marie Davis of Mobile; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends, two devoted, Willean (Ernest) Bush and Rosie Maul, both of Mobile. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 2846 Chambliss, Mobile, AL at 9AM until the 11AM funeral hour, Rev. Nathaniel Dortch pastor and officiating minister. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Theodore, AL. Funeral arrangements by REESE FUNERAL HOME, 925 Bessemer Ave., Prichard, AL.
