Mary Ann Perkins Branham was born at the home of her parents, Andrew Boulin Perkins and Louise Hankins Perkins on December 5, 1926 in Gallatin, TN. She departed this life on May 2, 2012, surrounded by her family. She attended public schools in Gallatin, TN and matriculated from there to the Chevy Chase College for Women in Washington, DC, graduating with a BA from Stetson University in Deland, FL. Mary Ann was active in Tennessee Association for the Preservation of Antiquities, helping first with the Hermitage in Nashville and then working to preserve Historic Cragfont in Gallatin. She was a lifelong member of the Gallatin Church of Christ, member of the College Women's Study Club of Gallatin, and a close-knit group of friends and family known as the Thursday Night Supper Club. As the only daughter of the local druggist, Mary Ann came in contact with people of all walks of life, loved many, did not happily suffer fools, and never met a stranger. As a young woman she was a cheerleader for the Gallatin High School Football Team and learned to punt and pass a football with accuracy and a perfect spiral. She was an excellent golfer as a young woman and enjoyed gardening, not only flowers at home, but raising a vegetable garden in the country with her husband and friends. She dove hunted as long as her eyesight allowed and, though an excellent homemaker, only tolerated housekeeping. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her beloved brother, Thomas B. Perkins, Sr. also of Gallatin. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eugene Branham, Jr. and their three children, Andrew C. Branham and wife Pam of Memphis, Sarah Louise Pendery and husband Dave of Lexington, KY, her namesake Mary Ann Branham of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Sarah Griggs and her husband Caleb of Cincinnati, OH, Joanna Branham of Denver, CO and John Pendery of Lexington, KY. and sister-in-law, Annie Lou Perkins of Gallatin. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 4th at Family Heritage Funeral Home in Gallatin, TN and Saturday, May 5th from 12:30 p.m. until time to leave for church. Services will be held at the Gallatin Church of Christ at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 5th with Brother Noel Quinn, Rev. Kyle Gott and Brother Julius Hovan officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Louise Hunt, Joy Alexander, Mary Lynn Coley, John Boyers, John Branham, Ben Smith, Bobby Freeman, Nathan Harsh, David McKenzie, Boots Scott, members of the Thursday Night Supper Club, past and present members of the board of Historic Cragfont, and officers and friends at the Gallatin Church of Christ.
