Revolutionary War Veteran 1776-81. Military Revolutionary War Rank "Private". Peter Perrine of Somerset County, New Jersey, enlisted May 1776 under Capt. Thos. Babcock in the New Jersey Line serving until Sept 1776. He also served from Jan. 1777 to April 1, 1777 under Capt. Hall in in Col. Fredrik Freeylinghausen's Regiment. From Sept 1777 to Oct 1777 he served under Captain Tunison. He served six weeks from June 1778 to July 1778 under Captain Lane. He served six and one-half months from Sept 1778 under Captain Stryker. He served two months from Nov 1779 under Van Nosdell in Colonel Taylor's Regiment. He served one month from July 1781 under Captain Sebring. He was engaged in the battles of Long Island, Van Ness' Mill, Brunswick Landing and Monmouth, New Jersey. Place of burial in Bethel Church Graveyard, Cross Creek Township, Washington Co, Pennsylvania where his grave is marked "Here lies a Revolutionary Soldier and a friend of Independence."
