Architect. A native of San Francisco, Pflueger's career began in 1907 when he was hired by the architectural firm of Miller and Colmesnil. In 1912 he designed his first building, the Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Portola Valley, which would be designated a California State Historic Landmark in 1977. In 1922, he was commissioned by the Nasser brothers to design what became one of his most well known projects, San Francisco's landmark Castro Theatre. Other projects for which he is remembered for include the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company Building (1925), the Paramount Theatre in Oakland (1931), the Top of the Mark lounge at San Francisco's Mark Hopkins Hotel (1939), and the I. Magnin Building (1946).
