MINEVILLE, N.Y. — Bernard "Smock" John Podres, age 81, of Mineville, passed away on Friday, January 11th 2013 at the Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, N.Y.
He was born on December 2nd 1931 in Witherbee, N.Y., he was the son of Barney and Anna (Tartaras) Podres.
Smock was a Veteran of the Korean War.
He was Commander of the Mineville VFW Post 5802, a member of the American Legion Post 14, a member of the Elks 1494, and past board member of the Moriah Country Club.
He was a basketball and football official for many years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler.
