He served in the Navy during WWII as Aviation Storekeeper in Okinawa and the United States.
He was a tanker truck driver most of his working life, having retired in 1985, at which time he then devoted his spare time to motorcycling. He was a member of American Legion Post 848 in San Jacinto, as well as VFW Post 2266. He served for several years on the Memorial Honor Detail in Riverside National Cemetery for both service organizations.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor J. Pointer.
He is survived by
his three children, Sharon (Peter) Hulme of Kurnell, New South Wales, Australia, Susan (Barney) Haight of Long Beach, Tim Pointer of Lakewood;
two brothers, Earl Odell Pointer of San Jacinto, Roy Ray Pointer of Missouri;
four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren
and his wife, Doris Parsons-Pointer.
