Anna A. Power, 78, of 35 Elbridge St. died yesterday in The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts - Memorial, after a short illness.
She leaves a brother, Edmund F. Power of Oxford; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Dennis F. and Annie (Ford) Power, and lived here all her life.
She graduated from the former High School of Commerce, where she was a member of the girls' varsity basketball and field hockey teams. The field hockey team represented the city in a tour of Ireland.
Miss Power was a senior interviewer with the state Department of Employment Security, where she worked for more than thirty years, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a former member of its Women's Guild. She was a Girl Scout counselor for many years.
The funeral will be held Wednesday from Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The family suggests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 44 Binney St., Boston, 02115.
