COHASSET, HARWICHPORT, BRAINTREE — Patricia P. "Patty" Monahan of Cohasset, formerly of Harwichport and Braintree, died on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard C. "Dick" Monahan; daughter of William J. Power and Clare Lally Power of Waltham; loving mother of Elizabeth Monahan "Beth" Rice and her husband John of Hingham; grandmother of Michael (21) and Ally (14) Rice; loving sister of Ruth M. Power of Bedford, and the late William, Robert and Arthur Power. She is also survived by her beloved goddaughter Anne Power, and many nieces and nephews.

Patty graduated from Waltham High School in 1942, and from Emmanuel College in 1946. She became a second-grade teacher, and was married in 1952. She was an avid collector of antiques, and was a dealer in an antique cooperative in Harwichport for many years. She was a lifelong tennis player and a member of many Garden Clubs. She and Dick, an attorney in Dedham, lived in Braintree for 30 years, summering in Harwichport, where they were longtime members of The Allen Harbor Yacht Club. They enjoyed taking long car trips across the country together, visiting the Civil War battlefields, Williamsburg, Va., and the Southwest.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass in Saint Paul's Church, 147 North St., in Hingham, on Thursday Jan. 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.



In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Patricia may be made to Emmanuel College, Office of Development, 400 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115.
