Mathews - Lilian Power Diggs, 89, of Port Haywood, died Monday, June 21.
Mrs. Diggs was a graduate of Blacksburg College for Women and taught in the Mathews school system for a number of years. She was a co-founder of the Mathews Department of Social Services and served as its first superintendent.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she was choir director for 35 years.
Survived by her husband, Charles Robert Diggs; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Diggs of Hayes; and two grandchildren.
Visitation from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home.
Funeral at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home by the Rev. Martin Diggs and J. Scott Sadler. Burial in Friendship Cemetery, Susan.
Memorials to the Mathews County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
