Stella M. Pruden was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Anna L. Bradley and her husband, believed to be David Pruden.

Stella married before 1900, but her first husband's name is not known. They divorced and she was living with her mother in the June 1900 census, using her maiden name, Pruden, at age 22. She was pregnant with Donald at the time, but his father's name is not known.

Stella married a second time about 1905 in Pennsylvania to Francis O. Young, a salesman. By 1910 they were living in Denver, Colorado, and had two sons, Robert O. and Donald Young (Stella's son, using stepdad's surname), both of whom had been born in Pennsylvania before they moved; a third child had been born but did not live, and a daughter, Jane V. Young, was born in 1914.

Stella Pruden Young died 1914-1919; her widowed husband and daughter are together in the 1920 Denver census, and Stella's mother, Annie Pruden, had joined the household, to care for the children while Francis worked. Annie died there in 1923.

Francis remarried after 1920 to Harrie F. Dare and had more children in Colorado. They had two sons by 1930 -- Burr Lynch and Francis F. Young. He died in Kirkwood, Missouri in 1958.
