World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Subadar (Captain) in the 6th Rajputana Rifles, Indian Army. On February 7, 1941, Subadar led an attack on the enemy at Keren, Eritrea and subsequently repelled six counter-attacks. After the conflict without a shot left, he brought the few survivors of his company back. Five days later, when leading another attack, he was seriously wounded but continued to encourage his men until he died. For most prestigious gallantry, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross Medal.
