Mrs. Evelyn Doris Archer Rand was born on July 11, 1937, in Holmes County, Tchula, Mississippi, and later her family moved to the city of Lexington, Mississippi. She was the fourth child and second daughter of Mr. Chalmers Archer, Sr. and Mrs. Eva Rutherford Archer, who preceded her in death in August 1987 and March 1998, respectively. Her sister, Hermione Anglin (died June 28, 1992) and two brothers, Charles Curtis Archer (died 1943) and Anselm Jerome Finch Archer (died October 18, 2009). Her remaining brothers are Chalmers Archer, Jr., Ph.D., Francis Archer and Vernon Archer, Sr., Ph.D.

Evelyn made her confession of faith in Christ at a young age as a member of Asia Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington, Mississippi.

She graduated from Saints Industrial High School in Lexington, MS, attended Howard University for two years and received a Certificate of Completion from Cortez W. Peters Business School in June of 1958.

In August of 1958, she married Curtis Rand and during the course of their marriage, they had three children: Valarie, Tamyra, and Paul.

Evelyn contributed greatly to her community throughout her life. During her children's elementary school days, she served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Sunday School Superintendent (Washington Heights United Methodist Church), PTA participant and most recently before her illness, she exercised her gracious gift of giving to others by donating to and working in Bellevue Baptist Church Clothing Ministry and Monthly meal Services to those in need.

Evelyn Doris Archer Rand went home to be with her Savior on November 4, 2013, while at home surrounded by her immediate family. Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her husband, Curtis, daughters, Valarie Rand and Tamyra Rand and son, Paul Rand; her brothers, Chalmers Archer, Jr., Francis (Louis) Archer and Vernon (Madeline) Archer, Sr.; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Active Pallbearers were Lu Aka, David Semmes, Clinton Larry, Jr., Kenneth Larry, Francis Archer, Jr. and Paul D. Rand. Honorary Pallbearers were Chalmers Archer, Jr., Ph.D., Francis Archer, Sr., Vernon Archer, Sr., Ph.D., Victor Anglin, M.D., Vernon Archer, Jr. and Paul D. Rand.
