Elizabeth Sappington is the Great Granddaughter of Sgt. John Sappington, who served with Gen. George Washington at Valley Forge. Elizabeth's birth date is not known fully, but what is known is that she was born sometime after the 1860 census as she is not listed in her fathers house in 1860. In the 1870 cenus she is listed and her age given is 9 years old. Her birth date on her head stone is listed as 1857 and this is incorrect. Her death date according to C.M. Raulston was 5 five days after the birth of her daughter Fannie Elizabeth Raulston. Fannie was born on Aug. 8th, 1886 so this would put Elizabeth's death around Aug. 13th, 1886 and according to C.M. Raulston she died from Child Bed Fever. Elizabeth decends from a very well known line of Sappingtons. Not only was her Great Grandfather a solider for George Washington, he was also a personal friend of Daniel Boone and helped found Ft. Boonesboro, Kentucky. After Kentucky he left and helped found St. Louis, Missouri and is buried in the Sappington Cemetery in Crestwood, Missouri along with several of his children. Elizabeth descends from his son Mark Sappington and from Mark's son Richard Sappington. As of this date 04/16/2013 the only grave I cannot locate are Elizabeths parents Richard Sappington and Henerita Hale, who I think may be buried in unmarked graves in Red River county Texas.
