Mrs. Margaret Lee Ray Archer, 59, Prestonsburg, widow of Dr. George Archer, died Sunday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg following an extended illness. Mrs. Archer was born Dec. 29, 1914, at Hyden, a daughter of the late William Edward and Martha Ann Creech Ray. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Raleigh Archer of Lexington and George Preston Archer IV of Morehead; a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Gamon of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Wallace Ray of Louisville and Quentin Ray of Simi, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg by the Rev. Harold Dorsey and the Rev. Howard Coop. Burial will be in Mayo Cemetery at Prestonsburg. The body has been taken from the Carter Funeral Home in Prestonsburg to the residence, where friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
