Ulah Christine Dean, age 83, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at the residence of Violet Conley in Elkton.
Mrs. Dean was born May 19, 1922, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Grace (Randall) Raynes.
Ulah was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jesse Franklin Dean, three brothers, Philip, Charles "Newt" and Lewis Raynes, and two sisters, Sadie Lawson and Viola Morris.
Survivors include one son, Jay T. Dean and his wife, Barbara, of Elkton; two daughters, Connie Shea of Port Republic and Faye Dean and her husband, Garland, of McGaheysville; one sister, Agnes Breeden and her husband, Earl, of Mount Sidney; six grandchildren, Michael Shea of Elkton, Brian Shea of Fairfield, Anthony Dean of Elkton, Lisa Hill and her husband, Randal, of McGaheysville, Shawn Dean of Fairfax and Jessica Dean of Charlottesville. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Cameron Hill of McGaheysville.
The Rev. Robert A. Buchanan will conduct funeral services Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. The burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home or anytime at the home of Connie Shea or Faye Dean.
