Rosamond (Raynes) Ferry, 87, of 17 Olive Lane, Vernon, wife of the late Robert W. Ferry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (March 29, 2011).

Born in Portsmouth, NH, daughter of the late Mortimer and Florence (Lord) Raynes, she grew up in Portsmouth and lived in East Hartford before moving to Vernon in 1962. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1942.

Prior to her retirement, Rosamond was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for twenty-five years. She worked at the Phoenix Insurance Company in Hartford for ten years after she retired from Pratt & Whitney.

She was a member of Union Congregational Church in Rockville. Rosamond was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Chapter # 53, South Windsor, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her beloved children, Pamela Stone of South Windsor, and John Ferry and his wife Melinda of Ellington; two granddaughters, Emily Ferry and her husband Demian Schane of Alaska and Betsy Ferry and her husband Sean Recicar of Vermont; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth and Frances Raynes.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Saturday (April 2, 2011) from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. An Eastern Star service will be held at 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service.
Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery in Vernon.
