Survived by sister: Carol (Bill) Jackson of Merrillville; son: Tim McGee of Merrillville; daughter: Carol (Bill) Soltis of Crown Point; daughter-in-law: Carla McGee of Hobart; step-daughter: Donna McGee of Merrillville; five grandchildren: Michael (fiancee Nicole) McGee Jr., Ryan and Corey McGee, Nathan Soltis, and Victoria McGee; two great-grandchildren. Janet was a graduate of Edison High School, class of 1950. She was a retired claims taker with the Indiana Unemployment Compensation working at various locations throughout Northwest Indiana with over 40 years of very dedicated service. She was an avid bowler at the Hobart Lanes with Friday afternoon leagues. She and her husband, James, were the co-owners and founders of McGee's Health Club; formerly of Glen Park and Hobart. Janet had a special place in her heart for cats, namely Tiger and she loved flower gardening.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Jerry Ulrich officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
