Martha Zeiger Barker
Martha ZEIGER BARKER, 68, 430 W. Second St., died from injuries suffered in an accident at U.S. 31 and Old U.S. 31 south of Rocheter, at about 7:10 a.m. today.
A car driven by Mrs. Barker collided with a sem-tractor trailer driven by Bennie W. HUFF, 47, Beebe, Ark. Mrs. Barker was going north on Old U.S. 31 and Huff was going west in the northbound lane of U.S. 31. Huff suffered a bump on his elbow.
She was pronounced dead at Woodlawn Hospital by Fulton county deputy coroners Ed WENRICK and Junior GOOD. The cause of death is under investigation.
Mrs. Barker is Fulton County's second traffic fatality this year and the second person to die within a week.
Sheila PRATER, 18, Rt. 1, Silver Lake, died Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, from injuries she suffered in a car accident on Feb. 5. in Fulton County.
Mrs. Barker was born Feb. 24, 1918 in Green Township, Marshall County, to Charles and Agnes CRIST RICHARD. Moving from Plymouth, she had lived most of her life in Rochester. On April 6, 1940, in Plymouth, she married Joseph E. ZEIGER, who died Sept. 24, 1982. On Oct. 15, 1983, in Rochester, she married Raymond A. BARKER, who died Oct. 28,1985. She had worked 15 years at Chamberlin Products, Akron. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lonnie (Nancy) CRIPE, Rochester; three sons, John H., Thomas E. and Richard J. ZEIGER, Rochester; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Loyola DAVIS and Mrs. Lucy SCHLOSSER, Plymouth, and Mrs. Paul (Juliann) HART, Chandler, Ariz., and four brothers, Joseph RICHARD, Rt. 3, Rochester; Lewis and Robert RICHARD, Plymouth, and Raymond RICHARD, South Bend. A daughter, Mary Ruth ZEIGER, died in 1981.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, Rochester, with Father Richard PUETZ officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. at the Foster & Good Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be rcited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
