Sarah S. Dewey, who was stricken with paralysis several weeks ago, and never recovered from the shock, died at 7 o'clock this morning at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. John C. Roberts. Mrs. Dewey was one of our most highly esteemed citizens, and her death will be sincerely mourned by many friends. She was born in Kittanning, Armstrong County, Penn., on the 10th day of December, 1820; moved with her family to Youngstown (Mahoning Co.), Ohio, in 1838; was married the 14th of April 1840; moved to Madison in 1861, and joined the Second Presbyterian Church in April, 1862. Of seven children, three are living, the other four having preceded her to the grave. The time and place of the funeral will be announced tomorrow.

Gravesite Details
Sarah's marker is sitting on the stone wall in between the Phibbs and Rankin lot. It has obviously been moved; probably for ease of mowing.
