Lillis R. Phillips, 85, of Hunt City died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 1979, at the Ridgeview nursing home, Oblong. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pulliam funeral home, Newton, with Rev. Harold Lingafelter officiating. Burial was in Mound cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born Sept. 13, 1893, in Atwood, Ill., a daughter of William and Lucy (Mosbarger) Rideout. She married Charles W. Phillips May 11, 1915 and he preceded her in death May 15, 1975. Surviving are sons, Orville of Hunt City and Robert of Willow Hill; daughter, Mrs. Mary Baughman of Springfield, Ill.; sister, Mrs. Mabel Baker of Tuscola, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Phillips was a teacher at Kedron and Rose Hill. She was a member of the Hunt Women's club and Cartwright Methodist Church, Atwood. Two sisters preceded her in death.
