RINEHART, Charles Henry, "Charlie" 85, of Kettering passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2009. He was born on Nov. 6, 1923 in Covington, Kentucky to Charles and Gertrude Rinehart. He was married to Phyllis, "his bride" for over 60 years, until her death just 3 months ago. Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and after the war, as an aircraft mechanic at W.P.A.F.B. in Dayton, Ohio. He also was the founder of Rinehart's Inventory Service. Charles was a member of St. Albert the Great Parish for 53 years and in recent years attended Mass at Church of the Incarnation with his grandchildren. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, and was always looking forward to the next gathering. His most cherished moments were the times he spent with his family, dear friends, and especially his precious grandchildren. He was his grandchildren's #1 fan at sporting events, and in life. Charles was a happy, fun-loving person, and a long time University of Dayton Basketball season ticket holder. Not a day or holiday will go by that we will not think of him and be thankful for his influence on our lives. Charles dedicated his life to providing for his family, planning fun entertainment, and sharing in our smallest triumphs and sorrows. He had an exuberant sense of adventure, enjoyed home cooked meals, was filled with a great sense of humor, and loved talking to people. He was the original "Energizer Bunny", and never slowed down. Charles never looked, acted or sounded his age. He was every inch a fine gentleman, and always had a "hankie" ready to catch any tears. He leaves behind his great gifts of strength, courage, love, and loyalty. Not only was he a caring and kind person to all who knew him, but a truly loving husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his son, Charles (Linda) Rinehart, and his daughter, Ann (David) Timpone. The pride and much joy of his life were his 6 grandchildren: Charles III (Chip), Christen, and Christopher Rinehart, Rob, Lyndsey, and Lori Timpone, and his first great granddaughter, Callie Rose. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Ragsdale, of Palm City, Florida, and many nieces and nephews who he truly loved. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Claire Wilbur. A celebration Mass of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Church of the Incarnation, 55 Williamsburg Lane, Centerville with Father Lawrence Mierenfeld officiating.
