Virginia Rinehart Buss, 86, of Bradenton, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014. Mrs. Buss was born Oct. 1, 1928 in New Bremen and moved to Bradenton 27 years ago from Orlando, Fla., where she lived since 1958. Mrs. Buss was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Buss.

She is survived by her sons: Randall W. Buss, M.D. of Fort Myers, Fla. and Robert A. Buss of Montgomery, Ala.; and daughter Christine Yekel of Bradenton, Fla. She also had seven grandchildren.

Retired, Mrs. Buss was a social worker for the state of Florida for 16 years. She was a Girl Scout leader, an elder and member of Christ Church of Longboat Key and an active member in her beloved Zeta Tau Alpha. She was a voracious reader, active investor and avid knitter. She lovingly knitted prayer shawls and baby bonnets for many years.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, Fla. Inurnment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
