Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Robertson, was born in Arkansas County, Arkansas on January 5, 1879, the son of Samuel James Robertson and Harriette Jane Adams.
His family moved from Arkansas to Collin County, Texas in the early 1880's. At this time his family consisted of his parents and a older brother, Joseph "Joe" D. Robertson. In early 1884, John, another brother, was born into the family and in 1887 a sister, Tommie Dessie, was born. His father passed away a few months before his last sibling was born.
On May 5, 1897 he married Mattie Lyons in Hunt County, Texas and they had five children born in Texas before 1910. They were; Esther Eulela, John Daulton, Pearl Elmo, Juanita Effie, and Julia Irene. Sometime before 1910 he and his spouse, Mattie, moved to Kiowa County, Oklahoma where a sixth child, Mattie Mae, was born in September 1910. His spouse, Mattie, passed away in Kiowa County on December 17, 1911.
After his first wife, Mattie, passed away in 1911 he remarried several years later in 1917 in Kiowa County, Oklahoma to Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Gaddis) Ragsdale. This marriage produced one child, a daughter, Lorene born 1927 in Exeter, California.
In the early 1920's he and his family moved from Hobart, Oklahoma to Exeter, Tulare County, California and lived there approximately 10 years before moving to 303 S. Johnson St., Visalia, California to live out his remaining years.
He passed away on January 4, 1959 leaving his wife, Sarah, a son, J. D. Robertson of Exeter; a step-son, Herbert Ragsdale of Huntington Park; five daughters, Mrs. Esther Needham of Morro Bay, Mrs. Juanita Rudd of Kingsburg, Mrs. Mae Lacey of Fresno, Mrs. Lorene Bresee of San Francisco and Mrs. Mary T. Smith of Visalia; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Pearl Elmo, years earlier in 1931.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of God in Visalia.
