WEST COLUMBIA - Graveside service for Milbrum R. Bachman, 93, will be held 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel is assisting the family.
Mrs. Bachman passed away January 20, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center. She was born on October 28, 1921 in Lexington County to the late Ernest McDonald and Ethel Hite Roof. Mrs. Bachman was a seamstress early in her life and later served as the bookkeeper for her husband’s business at The Key & Saw Shop of West Columbia which later became Triangle Safe & Lock. Her passion in life was gardening. She was known for selling day lilies and heirloom flowers. It was commonly said of her that she could make a pencil grow. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loved her family very much.
Milbrum is survived by daughters, Patricia Bachman and Barbara Moody (David); son, Larry Bachman (Nadra); brother, Thomas Tom Roof. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Kelsey Zarnick (Brian) and two grandsons, Scott Brown and Lance Bachman.
In addition to her husband, Homer G. Bachman of 57 years, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Brown; sister, Thelma Roof and brother, Marvin Roof. Memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3011 Leaphart Rd., West Columbia, SC 29169.
